Thanks to Payson PAYS

My name is Felicity Andren. I am a single mother of two small children and a full-time college student due to graduate this May. I am writing you this letter to nominate the wonderful group of people who helped my children and me last weekend.

You see, I inherited a house that was in need of some in-depth floor work, among other things. Everything went to a standstill while waiting for my smaller mobile to sell so that I had repair funds.

My counselor called a couple of people she knew, and then suddenly I received a call from one of the members of a group called Payson PAYS. This amazing group came to my home and did awesome and amazing work. They were a crew of ordinary people, doing an extraordinary thing.

They did so much to make my house a home! Honestly, it’s even better than I had imagined in my own mind.

There are not words that I could bring to this letter to thank them enough for their hard work, time and dedication! This is the kind of thing you see happen on television, but not in real, everyday life.

For my kids and me, this became a realized dream.

You are the most amazing group of people I have met in the 15 years I have lived here, to so freely give of yourselves. I can’t thank you enough for all of your efforts and hard work. May God bless you!

Family of Wounded Soldier Appreciates Efforts of Payson

Payson PAYS Septemberfest 2011I would like to express my appreciation to the people of Payson. My son, Sgt. Brian C. Jergens, a medic assigned to the 1st Infantry Division at Fort Riley, KS, was severely injured on Aug. 7 in the southern region of Afghanistan. On Sept. 24, Payson Professionals at Your Service (P.A.Y.S.) held their annual September Fest and donated all the proceeds to Payson Supply Line, an organization founded by Butch Klein and Lud Kaftan dedicated to providing deployed soldiers with care packages. Payson Supply Line in turn forwarded all the money to the Jergens Family Trust, a trust fund set up in Brian’s hometown of Lawton, OK, to offset any future expenses that he or any family member may incur as a result of Brian’s injuries.

My wife Marilyn and I were fortunate enough to be able to attend the September Fest along

with our daughter Darcy, my parents, Roxy and Gary, and my brother Scott and his two sons, Haydn and Adam. While the monetary contributions were incredibly generous, it was the emotional and spiritual support that truly meant the most to us. Not one person, when told that Brian was our son, failed to express truly heartfelt sympathy, as well as let us know that Brian had been in their thoughts and prayers since they had heard about his injuries.

As an active duty soldier with more than 22 years of service, I can tell you that I have heard the phrase “Support our Troops” hundreds of times. For most people, that means a bumper sticker, or standing and applauding when asked to do so at public events. For the citizens of Payson, it obviously means much more.

The amount of support our family has received has been truly overwhelming. The words “thank you” seem to fall well short of the amount of gratitude that we feel. I just want to let everybody in Payson know that while you are all praying for Brian’s recovery, we are praying

that God remembers your generosity, spirit, and support. Thank you,

Master Sgt. Brian K. and Marilyn Jergens
